Cuernavaca…City of Eternal Spring? ¿La cuidad de la eterna primavera?

Cuernavaca used to be known as the City of Eternal Spring for its year-round pleasant temperatures and abundant flowers. Unfortunately, overdevelopment has destroyed much of Cuernavaca’s beauty. The cool forests and mountain streams that helped regulate the area’s climate have given way to shopping centers, roads, and parking lots. Temperatures are uncomfortably hot most of the year.

In addition, families migrate from the countryside thinking that there will be more opportunities in the city, only to end up worse than before. Makeshift housing appears on steep hillsides such as you see in the photo below—houses built upon houses. People struggle for the basic necessities of life: food, water, shelter, health care, and education.

  1. You hit the nail on the head to an extent that I never could.
